For the past few years, I’ve been on the mission to celebrate the arrival of the New Year in different countries. And this time, Barcelona stole the show! If you haven’t partied your way into the New Year in Barcelona, you’re seriously missing out. The city knows how to throw a bash like no other. From the beachside fiestas to the lively squares, it felt like the entire city was on one giant celebration mode. The energy was infectious, and the vibe was nothing short of electric.
Barcelona’s beachside spectacle was like a scene straight out of a dream and as the clock struck twelve and the fireworks painted the sky, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the incredible experiences I’ve had over the past few years. Barcelona, you were an absolute gem, and this New Year’s Eve will forever be etched in my memory as one for the books.
Since it was my 4th visit, let me guide you through Barcelona’s best spots, restaurants & cafes, hotels and more!
Hotel
We’ve stayed in one of the most charming apartaments in the heart of Barcelona. Situated in a bustling yet charming neighborhood, The M.O. House offered easy access to Barcelona’s iconic landmarks (Arc de Triomf & Ciutadella Park), quaint cafes, and vibrant streets.
The rooms were spacious, spotless and simply beautiful. While our stay at MO House was overwhelmingly positive, there was a slight downside; the metro station underneath the building, operating 24/7, was a little inconvienient especially during the night, so for those sensitive to noise, it’s worth considering this aspect before booking.

Public Transport
Barcelona has an extensive public transport that allows you to seamlessly explore its diverse neighborhoods and nearby cities such as Badalona, Platja Castelldefels, Santa Susana or Malgrat de Mar. I recommend getting a Hola Barcelona card which can be used on all buses/metros throughout your stay. Hola Barcelona Card can be purchased on most bus/metro stations.
For a more leisurely ride with a touch of nostalgia – hop on a bike! 🙂 with dedicated bike lanes and a bike-friendly urban layout, cycling through the city becomes an enjoyable and sustainable way to explore Barcelona’s streets.
Safety in Barcelona
While Barcelona is generally safe, it’s wise to be aware. Barcelona’s popular attractions and bustling public transportation can be magnets for pickpockets. Keep a close eye on your belongings, especially in crowded places like the metro or iconic landmarks. A secure bag and situational awareness go a long way in thwarting potential theft.
