Is Canary Wharf worth visiting?

Canary Wharf is a major business district located in East London, United Kingdom. It’s known for its iconic skyscrapers, including One Canada Square, which was once the tallest building in Britain. It’s a hub for financial services, with many banks and financial institutions having their headquarters there.

Sounds boring, doesn’t it?

But trust me, it’s not. In fact, Canary Wharf should be on your ”must see’ list when visiting London for many reasons.

Spectacular celebration of light

Every year Canary Wharf hosts a ”Winter Lights” festival, exhibiting a range of renowned light artists from across the globe. The most viral project of 2023 was Luke Jerram’s Floating Earth:

Crossrail Place Roof Garden – Mini Botanical Garden with incredible views, such a perfect spot for a date, coffee break or a little walk. It’s open from 9am to 9pm daily and the entrance is free.

Jubilee Park – I guess that’s where all the locals come to chill after work. The park isn’t huge but it’s always incredibly quiet and clean.

Harbour Quay Gardens – This is my ”secret spot” to watch the skyscrapers. Best time to do so is sunset/late evening when it’s dark – that’s when the magic happens.

Hotel with a view

If you’d like to stay in Canary Wharf for a night or longer, I highly recommend Landmark Pinnacle serviced apartments. It’s London’s tallest residential tower with the most incredible views.

Landmark Pinnacle also boasts amazing amenities such as Panoramic Sky Gardens, media rooms (including table tennis and billiards), private cinema, gym, and a separate exercise studio, as well as Pilates area and functional co-working space. My favorite part was reading a book at the top floor with the view over London and the Thames – I wish I always had a view like this when reading or working!

The apartments were fully equipped, cosy and quiet. I would definitely stay there again.

Canary Wharf is so quiet, clean and well developed. It’s also very accessible from any station in London in less than 30mins so definitely worth visiting.
