Copenhagen City Guide | Manon Les Suites & Babette Hotel

Updated January 3, 2024

Copenhagen, the enchanting jewel of Scandinavia, has captivated my heart in ways words struggle to articulate. This vibrant city, where historic charm meets modern innovation, has become a haven for those seeking a perfect blend of culture, sustainability, and pure joy. As I pen down my thoughts, it’s hard to ignore the myriad reasons why I’ve fallen head over heels for this Danish gem.

I’ve been to Copenhagen twice and decided to put together a complete guide for your trip to this dreamy city!

HOTELS

Manon Les Suites

From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was enveloped in the unique charm of Manon Les Suites. The bohemian-chic design, with its eclectic mix of colors, textures, and greenery, created an atmosphere of sophistication and comfort. The hotel seamlessly combined modern aesthetics with a nod to nature, making every corner a visual delight.

Manon Les Suites boasts a stunning rooftop pool and terrace, transforming the hotel into a tropical oasis in the heart of Copenhagen. Surrounded by lush greenery and bathed in sunlight, the pool area offered a serene escape from the bustling city below. Relaxing by the pool with a panoramic view of the Copenhagen skyline became a cherished part of my stay.

Manon Les Suites doesn’t just focus on opulence; it also champions sustainability. The hotel’s commitment to eco-friendly practices, from energy-efficient design to locally sourced and organic amenities, resonated with my values. It’s refreshing to experience luxury without compromising on environmental responsibility.

Babette

A gorgeous place with stunning views, exceptional design and cosy vibe. We stayed in a double room with the most authentic, nordic aesthetic, very bright and airy. Babette in general is very hygge & snug, all the greenery makes it feel so relaxing and calm. They also have this lush, rooftop SPA & lounge with Copenhagen skyline views, there’s honestly nothing better than a glass of rose after a whole day of exploring. We also had our breakfast at Babette and enjoyed it very much, they have loads of lactose/gluten free and vegan options.

There’s a beautiful restaurant downstairs called ”Skagen Fiskerestaurant” where you’ll get 10% off your bill as a guest and in my opinion it’s one of the prettiest spots for food & glass of wine in Copenhagen. It’s a place I’ll highly recommend to all my family & friends and would love to stay there again.

25 Hours (Indre By)

My recent stay at this eclectic gem was nothing short of a delightful adventure, and the experience left me enchanted. Let me share the reasons why 25hours Hotel became the highlight of my Copenhagen escapade;

Playful Design and Ambiance:

From the moment I entered the lobby, I was immersed in a world of creativity and imagination. The vibrant and quirky design of 25hours Hotel sets the stage for an experience that goes beyond the ordinary. Each corner seemed to tell a unique story, making the hotel a living canvas of artistic expression.

Themed Rooms with Character:

25hours Hotel takes the concept of themed rooms to a whole new level. My accommodation wasn’t just a place to sleep; it was an immersive experience, each room had its own personality, adding a touch of magic to my stay.

Sauna & Rooftop:

One of the highlights of 25hours Hotel is its breathtaking rooftop terrace. Overlooking the cityscape of Copenhagen, this elevated space also included a sauna that became my go-to spot for relaxation after a long day of exploring the city.

The Neni Restaurant:

The hotel’s Neni Restaurant is a culinary gem that adds another layer of charm to the overall experience. With its diverse menu inspired by Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors, dining at Neni was a gastronomic journey that delighted my taste buds. The restaurant’s lively atmosphere and innovative dishes made it a local hotspot that I eagerly returned to.

How to spend a day in Copenhagen?

Copenhagen isn’t just a city; it’s an experience that engraves itself into the hearts of those who wander its cobblestone streets and embrace its unique spirit. From the genuine warmth of its people to the seamless integration of tradition and innovation, Copenhagen is a testament to the harmonious coexistence of the old and the new—a love affair that only deepens with each visit. As the saying goes, “You leave Copenhagen, but Copenhagen never leaves you.”

Here are some of the places I recommend visiting:

Nyhavn

One of the most iconic features of Nyhavn is its row of brightly colored 17th and 18th-century townhouses lining both sides of the canal. The vibrant hues add to the area’s lively and inviting atmosphere, creating a postcard-perfect scene.

SMK – Statens Museum for Kunst

It’s the largest art museum in Denmark, located in the heart of Copenhagen featuring extensive and diverse collection of Danish and international art, spanning seven centuries. The museum’s collection includes works from the Golden Age of Danish painting, European masterpieces, modern and contemporary art, and much more.

Frederik’s Church

Frederik’s Church, also known as the Marble Church (Marmorkirken in Danish), is an iconic landmark in Copenhagen. Frederik’s Church is renowned for its stunning Rococo architecture. Designed by the architect Nicolai Eigtved, the church was commissioned by King Frederick V in the mid-18th century. The church is characterized by its graceful dome, intricate details, and the use of marble, which gives it its nickname, the Marble Church.

Amalienborg

Amalienborg is the official residence of the Danish royal family, and it has been so since the 18th century. The palace complex consists of four identical Rococo-style palaces surrounding an octagonal courtyard.

The Tube

THE TUBE is an immersive experience and interactive museum in Copenhagen. This was SO FUN!

FOOD

For a food enthusiast like myself, Copenhagen is a culinary playground. Renowned for its innovative gastronomy and dedication to local, sustainable produce, the city boasts a thriving food scene. Here are few of my favourite spots:

Is Copenhagen Expensive?

In my opinion yes, Copenhagen is quite pricey. Some places (especially restaurants/cafes) were actually shocking. But of course you can eat for less or stay at cheaper hotel.

Public Transport

Copenhagen has an efficient and well-developed public transportation system that includes buses, trains, and a metro network. The Copenhagen Metro has two main lines: M1 (green line) and M2 (yellow line) that connects key areas of the city, including the city center, neighborhoods, and the Copenhagen Airport. Tickets can be purchased at stations, online, or through mobile apps.

Safety

Denmark, as a society, has a high level of trust among its citizens, contributing to a generally safe and secure environment therefore it’s a perfect destination for solo travellers.
